The mission of the United States Embassy is to advance the interests of the United States, and to serve and protect U.S. citizens in Belgium.
Ambassador Denise Bauer is the personal representative of the President of the United States in Belgium. As the chief advocate of U.S. policy, she is supported by personnel from the U.S. Department of State and other U.S. agencies. The Embassy reports and analyzes developments in Belgium of concern to the United States, and advances a broad range of U.S. policy initiatives. The Embassy promotes the United Statesâ€™ economic and commercial interests, and the export of American agricultural and industrial products and services, and otherwise assists American business, workers and investors.
The Embassy engages the government and a broad range of organizations and individuals in Belgium to promote shared values. Among others, these include individual freedom, human rights and democracy and the rule of law.
Founded in 2003, Empower Peace is a Boston, USA based 501(c) 3 international nonprofit dedicated to bridging cultural and communication divides between young people worldwide. With a strong focus on connecting youth worldwide, Empower Peace uses the latest in interactive technologies and intensive leadership training to break down misconceptions and build meaningful relationships among often unlikely allies. Through a global network of students, teachers and schools, Empower Peace is providing the next generation with the opportunities and tools needed to advance mutual respect, understanding and peace.
Women2Women International Leadership Program
Women2Women (W2W) is a program of Empower Peace. W2W is specifically designed to educate, inspire and empower emerging female leaders, ages 15 to 19 years, enhancing their leadership skills, instilling self-esteem and encouraging them to bring about positive change in their communities.
W2W is a life-changing educational experience created by working with professionals representing the Harvard Kennedy School of Government, Women in Public Policy Program; Harvard Law School, The Program on Negotiation; Harvard University, the Carr Center for Human Rights; Tufts Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy and The Centers for Womenâ€™s Leadership and Entrepreneurship at Babson College. The W2W program now boasts an international alumnae base of nearly 800 promising young women from 46 countries around the world working together to create positive change.
